Having traced my family back to around the early 1700 they either worked down a coal mine, served in the army, made saddles, none of them were rich enough to afford slaves and they were treated as little more than slaves themselves, they had little say about the slave trade and most probably knew nothing about it. So please explain why my family should have to apologise and pay reparation when my family and my ancestors had nothing to do with it.
