It is an older generation thing my Grandparents were paid cash and kept their money in all sorts of places in the house because they didn't have bank accounts back then, my Grandparents were born in the late 1800's but my parents kept their money in a bank except for a few 100 pounds cash that they kept to hand. I had my car stolen back in 1997, I had parked it in a car park right in front of a familyc members car, when we got back the car wasn't there, my first reaction was to say to my partner, "who's moved my car" he said "it's been stolen" My response was "don't be stupid, someone has moved it". Finally it sunk in, our family took us and our 2 year old boy who was distort because, his favourite blanket was in the car. I got a custom car straight away and the insurance paid out really quick and we got a new car, a week later it was found dumped. The worst part about it was we had just moved from London, where you might expect your car to a small town in Wales and lived in the middle of nowhere so the car was extremely important to be able to get anywhere. I was lucky because I had all the service and repair history and a recent photo of the car so I got a decent pay out enough to get a good replacement car.
