  1. The realization of what they just did gets them to off themselves. Morbid as this sounds, mass murderers back in the day killed others for the thrill of it. They weren't frustrated with their lives or anything, far from it actually. Mass murderers over the last quarter century or so are much different. They are frustrated with their lives and when they realize what they have done they off themselves. It's prevalent in US society because social media and other advanced forms of communication have made environments similar to high school where everybody feels like they are being judged based on social value practically unavoidable. Again, wasn't like this back in the day.
