After two months of seeing how we're reacting to all this, I've concluded that COVID 19 is pretty much a "new" common cold. You can get it from anyone at any time and if you are unhealthy and immune compromised, you're gonna have a tough time. It's here to stay forever just like the common cold is and I'm just hoping it eventually gets taken as seriously as the common cold. I mean, there's no cure for a common cold and there's no vaccine for it either. This pandemic is really gonna separate those who have healthy habits from those who don't.

4:00 Something really strange happened to me when I got C0VID last fall. I lost my sense of smell but my sense of taste got stronger. Although I did eat more frequently since I was probably expending energy fighting off the virus, everything became REALLY flavorful. I probably spent the whole ten days in my quarantine not adding flavoring to all the omelets, steaks, and steamed vegetables I ate; didn't need it. Even a peanut butter sandwich tasted like triple chocolate ice cream during my quarantine haha. Maybe C0VID messed with my dopamine pathways...?

Too bad. A compromised immune system is the result of an unhealthy lifestyle that was all based on the choices you made.

At the moment they do. But we're gonna see what happens down the road. I'd rather see a little more people dying from this thing NOW than a LOT of people dying from other stuff later.

Are you immune to the common cold? No. I'm not either. You can get a cold, recover, then get a cold again days later. Cuz that's pretty much what COVID 19 is, only its from a different virus which has a lot less symptoms than the common cold. I KNOW when I have a cold. My throat gets sore for a couple days, I have nasal congestion for a couple days, I get post nasal drip for a couple days. COVID 19's symptoms aren't as defined.

I imagine it has been around for even longer than that, possibly since last fall. Got sick a lot more than usual during fall and winter of last year, might be cuz of this.

@Kinkle_Z A Senator or TWO? How about half of the US's politicians lol

I'm about 5 years younger than you and was in your position about 3 or so years ago. Used to drink just as much soda as I did water, would find excuses to eat really sugary pastry snacks but was still very active which was probably my saving grace. One day I was like "you know what? I'm just gonna not eat a DAMN THING for an entire day and see what happens; worst comes to worst I'll eat something if I don't feel right." Went that entire day a whole 24 hours just drinking water. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. So that's my advice. Just be curious. Also practice "out of sight out of mind." If I don't keep soda and pastries in the house, I probably won't have any. I keep very little food in the house and don't eat until about four or so hours after waking up. Again, I was just curious to see if I could do such a thing then it became a habit because I of how much easier it was to eat twice a day instead of a million times a day.

That's fantastic. Wish my dad did the same. But when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, he put even MORE oil on the salmon that he shoved down his throat until he couldn't eat anymore. Died only 2 or so years after being diagnosed, and that was WITH chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Was only 53. Dude had the unhealthiest lifestyle ever.

@MrGregHiller It's COMMONLY called COVID-19/Corona virus, but not many know it as SARS-Cov-2, so he was just trying to speak to a wider audience.

That might just be anxiety + old age. How old are you? I'll be 38 in three months and although I don't experience the dry throat and headaches, I definitely get chest pains (especially after doing some push ups lol) and back pain.

Think Dr. Ekberg is talking about processed sugar not natural sugar. And yeah if you have low blood sugar levels you're probably the exception.

I took two Moderna shots about a month or two after my folks did. Only thing that happened to me was that I got a couple of colds.

Move up to 2% if you have to drink milk. Milk is pretty bad for you anyways, I would just swap it for water. I drink nothing but water and have a couple sodas on my cheat days.

Is insulin resistance the SOLE cause of joint pain and slight arthritis tho? There has to be more to it than that. I'd argue that joint pain and slight arthritis is a combination of insulin resistance, bad posture, being overweight, and just a natural progression of aging and being super active. Has to be; there's a lot of stuff we do that puts pressure on our joints and core. Just sitting alone has been proof of this; our bodies aren't designed to sit for prolonged periods of time. I mean I'm 39 and 1/2 and I deal with slight back and knee pain but that's probably just because I'm 39 and 1/2 and have been lifting heavy weights since high school. Also been bowling and playing golf since I was a kid and both of those sports can put quite a bit of pressure on joints. I don't possess any of the other symptoms but I definitely have been struggling with joint pain for the last decade or so. Don't think I'm prediabetic at all, I drink like one soda a week and that's ALL the sugar I consume (unless you count the sugar content in peanut butter sandwiches). I wouldn't mind hearing what Dr. Ekberg has to say about this.

I agree with that with the exception of diet soda. Don't think our bodies are resilient to the stuff they put in diet soda.
