I'm about 5 years younger than you and was in your position about 3 or so years ago. Used to drink just as much soda as I did water, would find excuses to eat really sugary pastry snacks but was still very active which was probably my saving grace. One day I was like "you know what? I'm just gonna not eat a DAMN THING for an entire day and see what happens; worst comes to worst I'll eat something if I don't feel right." Went that entire day a whole 24 hours just drinking water. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. So that's my advice. Just be curious. Also practice "out of sight out of mind." If I don't keep soda and pastries in the house, I probably won't have any. I keep very little food in the house and don't eat until about four or so hours after waking up. Again, I was just curious to see if I could do such a thing then it became a habit because I of how much easier it was to eat twice a day instead of a million times a day.

Is insulin resistance the SOLE cause of joint pain and slight arthritis tho? There has to be more to it than that. I'd argue that joint pain and slight arthritis is a combination of insulin resistance, bad posture, being overweight, and just a natural progression of aging and being super active. Has to be; there's a lot of stuff we do that puts pressure on our joints and core. Just sitting alone has been proof of this; our bodies aren't designed to sit for prolonged periods of time. I mean I'm 39 and 1/2 and I deal with slight back and knee pain but that's probably just because I'm 39 and 1/2 and have been lifting heavy weights since high school. Also been bowling and playing golf since I was a kid and both of those sports can put quite a bit of pressure on joints. I don't possess any of the other symptoms but I definitely have been struggling with joint pain for the last decade or so. Don't think I'm prediabetic at all, I drink like one soda a week and that's ALL the sugar I consume (unless you count the sugar content in peanut butter sandwiches). I wouldn't mind hearing what Dr. Ekberg has to say about this.
