  1. I think the temptation to give up on everything and stop caring gets stronger and stronger as one ages, but once you realize everyone else is lost it brings you back to earth. I'll be 40 in a month and I stopped caring about "success." Look if anything I've been cheating death for over 20 years. I've attempted to off myself more times that I probably should have. Thought about it DAILY throughout my 20s. And guess what? No major injuries, no major health problems, nothing. I'm cheating death and I know it. So to me, I've already succeeded. Everything is extra at this point. My dad died of cancer in his early 50s because he was so obsessed with "success." To hell with all that. To me success = Living on your terms as much as possible. My dad never experienced that. My mom? Retired and rotting in her late mother's house. So this whole "It's never too late" thing...I believe it but I also kinda don't. A lot of stuff is predetermined. Free will exists but in small doses. I'm expecting to die at 45. Things are going to catch up to me quickly. But I'm aspiring to live to see 90 by making much better decisions about my health than I did in my youth and that my father did in his 40s. You need to use the free will you have and marry it with predetermination. This is what I'm doing. We're all cheating death at some point.
