  3. The shift from programmer shortage to only needing a quarter of the ones already in the industry is going to give people whiplash.

  4. AI has serious limitations. Three off the top of my head are 1) stealing work from other organizations that are not open source, 2) exposing your companies code base to AI is a terrible idea from a security standpoint and 3) you now have your business relying on a single point of failure outside of your control. Bonus one, people are going to troll the hell out of AI because it has no guile. It has no idea when someone is lying to it and it is easily tricked into spouting something incredibly wrong and worse it is incredibly confident in its wrong answer. AI will be looked back at being so over hyped. It is the new Y2K bug.

  5. That last point is also wrong. In reality it will replace most programmers, it is currently replacing some programmers and most new grads/juniors. Businesses can't wait to reduce head count.

  9. Web dev isn't enjoyable any more. Briefly it was a bit fun. I am transitioning into server side and networking ASAP. A rollercoaster is fun for three minutes. A rollercoaster for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week is not fun.

  13. AI is terrible. It is bad for humanity and already is damaging many industries from programming to the arts. People thought AI would do the chores and free up their time for creation and art but AI will take over the realms of creation and art and leave people to do the chores. We would all be better off without it.

  16. If they can use AI to eliminate jobs then we can use AI to eliminate interviews. It really is that simple. Screw leetcode and screw the entire industry's interview and screening process currently. This is exactly the kind of shakeups we should be using AI for to retaliate against these companies.
