@liammorgans7329 I never said America isn't necessarily the leader in creating great medicine or cures. Fine. But making them available and affordable to the American Population. Well, that is again, a completely different debate. Because it's not.
What good does it do Americans if Great American Scientists come up with a great cure for a disease when other first world countries give it to their citizens for free, but Americans go bankrupt trying to gain access to the same medicine or cure?
You seem really focused on Health issues that deal with poor lifestyle choices. They are just a small portion and 1 of the many issues the health care has to deal with. And again, there can be plenty of debate as to why some people have no choice but to choose the less healthy option because it's cheaper, and not just food. For example, if I get Cancer that has nothing to do with my lifestyle (Which is very possible) I am better of selling Meth to pay for the Healthcare than to use the American System. It's a TV Show for a reason.
The bottom line brother, is this wouldn't be an issue if we had Paid Healthcare for all, which almost all other 1st World Countries have figured out, EXCEPT the US. Sure we may have the ability to create great medicine. But it's only available to the US Population at a ridiculous mark up.
Not to mention one of those "Great Drugs" is Opiates.
All the American Medical System cares about is the sole purpose they exist for. That is to make a profit. And I would know, I work for one.
Just so we know what we're talking about. Are you actually implying the American Healthcare system is great and doesn't need any reform? If you are, I really hope no one in your family, or none of your kids (If you have any) come down with a serious disease. If they do, even with insurance you will go bankrupt.

No Apology needed. It's not like we can really do anything.
1. Yup
2. Nope - I want Medical Pharmaceutical companies to primarily care about the health and well being of Citizens first and profits second. We don't need price fixing exactly, but there needs to be some limit. when a company can charge $1000.00 Dollars if you're insured, but if you uninsured or under insured, they can charge 1/10th of that, they are clearly price gouging. And I know some personal examples of that. I think it's quite possible if you remove greed, that you can remove price fixing and price gouging. And you can't have your cake and eat it too, because that makes you a higher risk for diabetes.
3. I hear what your implying. But Type 1 Diabetes is not a choice, Cancer in many, many cases is not a choice (Just ask St. Jude's Children's Hospital). Not all cancer is from smoking or other bad choices. There are a lot of cancers out there. Obesity and Heart Disease related to it. Sure, that's a problem. But it's not like some obese dude with Type 2 Diabetes and a bad heart is dealt with any differently in the US than a 12 year old Kid that has Leukemia. In the US, they are both just as responsible for their health care bills as the other. It doesn't matter.
