He tried, but was stuffed or Max got right back up. Plus it's hard to grab a leg when you get punched in the face 4 times on the way in.

He tried take downs, but Max popped right up. I agree he should have attempted more and attempted them earlier, but I am not sure it would have effected the outcome in the end. It is what it is.

@jesse977 he tried, but it's hard to complete a takedown when you get punched in the face 4-6 times on your way in. All fights start on the feet.

@sershanity8171 That's because Ortega is not a Wrestling based fighter. Wrestler's skills are taking you down and controlling you. He is a BJJ Guy, their skill set doesn't kick in until the fight is already on the ground. Once it's on the ground they can usually make stuff happen. But getting it to the ground is not on the same level as a Wrestler.

@dylandub7528 Pfft! How can you say conor has Max's number after one fight over 5 years ago when Max was a 21 year old kid. Talk about exaggeration. Max would smoke him now. conor is only good for a max of 3 rounds, then the proper 12 kicks in and he gasses out. conor will go down as the most overrated fighter in history. The highest earner, but when it comes to talent. Slightly above average.

Nah! Max is just that much better. He tried taking him down and he couldn't hold him down and was stuck striking where he was out matched,. No coach could change that.

@sershanity8171 It's really easy to just go with Khabib over Ortega since one won their last fight and the other lost. But even if that had not happened, I would pick Khabib for every fight until he eventually gets past his prime. Until then, pick him every time.

@panchovilla939 Sure, no problem. But until someone beats him. I'm picking him. Of course he will eventually lose, but right now, it's going to be hard. He has fought plenty of guys that know how to do submissions. He is not scared of the ground game. He just puts so much pressure on you that you don't have the chance to set something up before you're being smashed in the face. But yes, it's MMA and he could lose to anyone at any time. These are best guesses not facts

@slurpman1487 Thanks for agreeing

@jesse977 You're missing the point. He could have immediately gone to the ground by himself, but if Max didn't join him, what difference would it make? He needed to force Max to the ground, which he couldn't do. You can't just immediately bring a fight to the ground just because you want to, anymore than you can keep a fight standing just because you want to. It totally depends on the two fighters in the cage and their skill set. Every time he tried to take Max down it didn't work and he got hit multiple times on the way in or Max popped right back up if it did go to the ground. Against a trained and skilled guy like Max you can't take the fight to the ground just because you want to. There were multiple times he tried normal take downs and it didn't work, then he resorted to attempting to a desperate attempt to pull guard and that didn't work. I love Ortega, but he was simply outmatched. But he will be back even better and stronger.

@Rukh True, but he was wrong

@dylandub7528 What's exaggerated about the statement that after 1 fight over 5 years ago when Max was 21 years old that conor has his number???!! Holy Crap! You actually just asked that??!! I can't believe this is what the UFC has degraded to, but Okay. Well for starters, It's impossible to say anyone has anyone's number after one single fight that took place over 5 years ago, especially when the loser was 21 and the winner was over 25. If you don't understand that you don't understand fighting and no one on Earth can help you. Only time and experience will reveal the truth to you. Get back to me in 10 years when you have experienced a little more.
