One thing that was strange with charlie marx is that he never did any kind of experiments and neither did those that believed in it. In ancient Greece there were thinkers who believed that reasoning and philosophy alone could address mathematical problems. These individuals valued intuition and insight over formal deductive argument. Marx thought that if you took away money from the equation, people would have nothing to compete about and would cooperate and do all sorts of good things like a small group of pleasant children. People are more intelligent than that. When money went, there were other things you could compete about. Loyalty was one of them. The more loyalty you showed to The Party, the more you would be rewarded and less harassed. You could get holidays. You could perhaps do sports which showed how superior the socialist system was. And you would be rewarded. You may have paid with your health and even your life , especially if you lived in the gdr. One guy that understood what assets there were was putin. He would not betray (important) people and that meant he got ever better jobs. Then Yeltsin chose to endorse him as president and in return putin would not go after yeltsins family. He didn’t betray putin but he did betray russian population.

When socialism fell in russia and satellite states, some interesting things were revealed. I think that in czechoslovakia there was a company that made coffee brewers. They had awarehouse where they kept huge amounts of sight glasses where the coffe comes down. If memory serves they had enough of these for decades of manufacturing. The management was proud of this because according to marxism this was an asset. They had bought it from a neighbour country and they were really happy. Is this something you would do if your business was to make coffee brewers or would you consider it to be a bad idea to have so much money locked in the store which itself is expensive. A marxist economist is one of the most dangerous people there are. One such person is now defence minister in russia and that is andrey beluosov. If you hear that russia is being sovietised you should not be surprised

@Nun195 It was but it was marketed as socialism. The chines leader has this background. There were russians that went to the gdr and they were warned that socialism was ”by the book” so I’d say people like honecker thought they really were socialists.
