There is so much snobbery in this hobby its ridiculous, I hear it all the time to the point where some old school class A and B licence holders wont even talk to M callsigns, particularly on HF, the last thing this dying hobby needs is that kind of attitude, never understood what learning morse code had to do with anyone's ability to operate on HF, best thing they ever did was to drop that requirement although inter G is pretty much all you get these days with the same old farts using 1000W valve amps and obsessing over thousands of pounds worth of microphones and mixers like it actually makes a difference on such a narrow bandwidth. Fact is young Amateurs Like Lewis with his relatively big you-tube platform are highly influential and will be directly responsible for some of the faces you see coming through, Lewis is a lovely young chap, I would suggest if you were only joking on your comment below that you add a winking emoji at the end of the sentence I suspect that your original comment was legit and you are only backtracking because you have received comments , you can edit and delete youtube comments ;-) You only need a thick skin on youtube because people troll the comments section.

@normaneustice1112 The ability to read and send morse code is not a requirement for the proficient and proper setup and use of HF radio equipment and hasnt been for 50 years or more, its a skill im not denying that and it does have its uses but was always a stupid distinction between a Class A and B licence holder, also because there was still snobbery back then from people who all they had done over a Class B licence holder was learn Morse Code and this has now propagated to the current climate now where novice licence holders are treated like pariahs, its no wonder these kids drop out of the hobby, they get their callsign, nobody speaks to them and when they do they get told their affordable Chinese radio is a pile of crap and they should be buying Kenwood, Yaesu, Icom etc. I also find people that make comments like yours on here never make their own content either, just troll other peoples hard work out of nothing better to do, you Trolled Lewis and got found out, if it were intended as a joke you would have augmented the comment with an emoji or deleted it, read it again and tell how that comment could be interpreted any other way especially by someone who doesnt know you.

@Andromedan Very well put, Norman is trying to wriggle out of what he said because he has attracted negative comments not least from Lewis and is trying to frame what he said as a joke, he claims to have the interests of the hobby at heart and is involved in the recruitment and training of new hams, for someone in that position doesn't that seem like a very odd comment to make even if in jest knowing full well that many of the new hams will have seen this contradictory message as they consume a lot of the material created by this channel. Anyone who has spent at least 30 mins online knows full well there is a very simple way to mark the intention of your comment and that is by a simple emoji placed at the end of the comment, otherwise it will be interpreted exactly as it was read and will likely provoke a reaction from the recipient, Normans comment is almost a literal example of how to troll somebody, at least own the comment instead of trying to backtrack and make out you were joking.
