  2. Apple is 100% right here, even though this is a very big threat. More security features for users of these systems is important, despite the risks governments have with not being able to intercept potential said messages. There needs to be a compromise here, and the UK government cannot be allowed to hold these systems hostage. I’m on the side of Apple here. They need to win this.

Just like the emergency information line that was set up at the beginning of this stage of the invasion to allow friends and family to call up to enquire as to the current condition of their Russian relatives who were fighting in Ukraine. It’s amazing that this is available. Reeeeally hope as many Russian soldiers as possible use this.

  9. This is just unbelievable.Also a brilliant piece of well presented reporting here from the BBC. Thank you for covering this with such genuine thought and the right level of emotional detail. It’s horrific to think that even 25 years later these pieces are still washing up in the same location. Perhaps one day this can be used as a way of tracing where the plastic is moving and perhaps collected all at the source, if there is in fact still a pile down there somewhere. Right here with the East Island has a good example of what we could be using all of the micro plastic to do. Not just recycle it, but also reuse it in different ways. There should definitely be initiatives for this sort of thing for fishermen just like subsidies for farmers.

I only hope that these guys can have greater success than the absolute suppression Beijing is pushing on them over there.   22. The 2019 to 2020 Australian wildfire still sticks vividly in my mind as I’m sure it does everyone else’s. Covid quickly took over the news for the whole world and rightly so, but what happened in Australia should’ve been enough to bring real change. And yet our leaders still want to drag their feet, even with what is happening in Ukraine. They are always too slow to act, never willing to make proper big compromises and this is the end result. We need to bring about systemic change and it needs to have happened yesterday.

It does feel that, although the Royal family is struggling to find new people to marry into the family, they are doing very well in terms of relationships in local and international popularity. In all honesty it would be pretty cool if the Emperor met Queen Elizabeth II someday soon.

She has done nothing but brought honour and duty to this country, far more anyone else had for a very long time and may not do so again for a while after. Thank you as well to Her Majesty for bestowing this honour on her daughter in-law for the title she will have when Charles becomes King someday. People have the right to resettle in other countries to get a better life, but when one specific faith starts to outweigh the native ones and can be more hard-line or intolerant than the one that came before, then the balance of people who think they are right versus those who actually live need to clean the country can become unstable. We naturally want to tolerate other faiths, as we believe it adds more to our own, but when the other faith doesn’t want to even try to integrate or is more extreme or intolerant of others, then there’s no way it can be compatible. We’ve tried again and again without any success. Muslim faith doesn’t seem to want to blend with others, but just harass and suppress other ones. I try to keep an open mind and I am not far right. I just tried to observe what I see around me and it feels like this is indeed what is happening.

  32. I’m really proud of these guys were able to capture the outpost. Before it was just an attack on a different one, but now they actually have a strategic location advantage. Absolutely appalling that the military has actually attacked a village like this. Don’t these people realise that it is only going to turn everyone against them even more. This report felt very obscure and although they kept saying it was far right members, it seems like honestly half or the majority of them were of Muslim or middle eastern descent! We know that Muslim people feel very strongly about their faith and this kind of response is apparently not to unheard of for when someone burns or even threatens to burn their holy book. I know we don’t always have the right to judge other cultures or religions when they are not necessarily harming others emotionally or physically (something which is a dangerous line to cross for people of some faiths), but I do have to say it is massive overkill in this case.
