Sorry but the war still had to happen whether some people like it or not. The world is a much better place with the UK and US military is having gone into Afghanistan and Pakistan than if we didn’t. If not then the Taliban or eventually Isis would still have been in total control and the oppressive rule would still be happening to this day and every nation on earth would be partially responsible for this for not having stopped it. I’m sorry, but just because some people die, doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth fighting for. If we had that attitude, we never would’ve won World War II. In fact, I’m pretty sure a lot of experts have even considered that, with our current generation of thinking, there’s no way our public today could actually keep up the necessary patriotism and motivation to fight a war of that scale. The old generations (pre-1945) were certainly better than us.

Too many to count. I’m betting of a lot of people over there had actual access to contraceptives and wasn’t frowned upon, none of them would’ve chosen to have any kids at all during this conflict.

I think she would have mixed opinions about someone referencing this particular faith’s god when talking about her son, but the sentiment is still very heartfelt and I’m sure it is well appreciated.

It wasn’t a total waste. The Taliban and Isis was still pushed back significantly and it still had to be done, whether some people like it or not. Even with all the losses, the world is surely the better place with us having gone into Afghanistan than not having done so at all. Most likely we will indeed have to go back again, but it will probably have to be the UK on its own for a while. But I believe if we actually perform a blitzkrieg tactic the second time around, and truly take the enemy by surprise, we can actually come out properly victorious.
