@Then.72 Here here. We really should be developing this fighter jet on our own. Really want to know what has gone so wrong that has now resulted in us apparently now planning to develop it in collaboration with Japan and Italy. at the very least, we need to make sure this time around we don’t end up selling our technology again. We need to learn from our mistakes, and that is don’t sell your technology in its design form to another country who you bloody well now eventually has capacity to build it on a much larger scale, making it cheaper and putting your own sector out of business. Even Concord, which is now in the new form of the Boom company in the US, which will be coming out in probably a few years, is a good example of this. It’s time for us to fix the mistakes of the past, and our military, including despite a chat is our chance again

Absolutely. This is what makes me so confused. I thought initially the Tempest project was supposed to be developed exclusively in Britain? What the hell is happened here? It should be done entirely in Britain. Japan doesn’t really seem like a good partner in this. In terms of development, these days they are quite behind in pushing the boundaries and their construction sector is not really anything to shout about when compared to South Korea. If anything feels like Italy is the only good partner here as at least they can help us with the raw materials and close development area. We are supposed to be defending ourselves but if we have to do it in cooperation with two other nations, no wonder it isn’t going to be completed until possibly 2035. This is way too late. By the time this thing is bloody well finished it will already be out of date in some areas. We need this thing done within 8 years and realistically it can be done. NOT 13 YEARS. This is just taking development laziness to the next level and hoping that people just forget about it and using it for publicity I can think of plenty of actually committed technicians and engineers who would happily delve all of their spare time into creating this, but governments always just end up hiring people they believe they can trust to fill out all the forms correctly, who eventually just dawdle about twiddling their fingers and push development back, so they can keep getting paid. this is basically the development difference between NASA and SpaceX. The UK needs to be learning this year. We still are falling back on the old tried and true but shitty methods.
