Indeed. Now SpaceX and other private companies are having to pick up the slack where governments have failed us.

Indeed. After nothing but sadness for the past few days, it’s good to have something nice to remember.

That is quite an amazing line to have stamped in the history of the world. I can only imagine what it’s like if you watched it in a film. You would think it’s almost staged with how incredible it is. And to be honest, it’s hard to get that thought out of your head sometimes.

@chicotthejester9341 It’s really stupid that people keep making these comments about the BBC, especially as they show just as much stuff from the national and historical perspective as anything on the far more liberal side of things. It’s a nationally balanced broadcasting service. People just like to cherrypick which ever aspects from their broadcasting that fits their narrative in order to hate it. It’s pathetic.

@chicotthejester9341 It really is... but this time it’s between probably the best company that can get there first. Hardly simply America or China.

Yeah, it’s a bit too late for them to claim that. Not until they capture the ultimate divide and touch another planet with their own feet. And in all honesty, I don’t think America, Russia, or China deserve that honour with their huge national mindsets and cultural divides. They can build the rockets all they want, but I don’t think the first person to step foot on Mars should be from either of these three countries. If anything it should more likely be someone from Britain, France or Germany. It feels like much more of a neutral party option. Plus it would be far more original. Not to mention that Germany did send the first ever object into space in the first place, sooooo. Hehe

@mr.mintman7545 okay, it’s a little bit ironic and hilarious really that you called someone who would go back to Farage a snowflake! I mean, isn’t that usually what people who are associated with the further right call people on the left in the first place!? I’m sorry, but your sentence really does make no sense. In any sense of understanding though, The BBC is a very balanced broadcasting service that has shows on it from many different perspectives. There is just unfortunately a lot of people who don’t like it that way and would prefer it if it was all just one way. Britain is all about tolerance between different groups usually, and that’s the same for the BBC. There are always going to be haters, but the vast majority support it, and that’s just the way it is.

This truly was an absolutely incredible moments in the history of humankind. I’ve really got to watch a proper movie about these events sometime. Although preferably from more of a historically accurate western filming perspective rather than one made in Russia, otherwise I’d imagine there’s probably a high chance of it being glossed over. We must always still be ready to question history when it comes to a time period like this, but it is still an absolutely wonderful feat for both the USSR, Russia and the whole of the human race. Let us just hope the next 60 years will be even more eventful.
