Here here. This is absolutely insane that they are even considering farming these animals. After everything we’ve learned over the past decade alone, it should warrant them never been eaten at all, or at least in very rare occasions. Farming them is just barbaric.

Not really unfortunately. Farming fish in nets has unfortunately shown to have very negative effects on their health, mainly because they are locked in for so long if not their whole lives. Plus they can also start to develop parasites and illnesses when in close quarters like this their whole lives. Octopuses would inevitably suffer the same fate. Not to mention they are not fish. They are actually regarded by the scientific community under animal rights act as honourary vertebrates because of their intelligence. It would basically be the same as saying we should farm monkeys for food because they are not humans, therefore keep them in the same pens as chickens. It’s not just a case of one animal and another. It’s a case of how they are even perceiving the world and how they feel. Octopuses sadly, must not be farmed, even if it is more convenient for us. There have to be exceptions to us being able to eat whatever we want.

Here here. I’m surprised the news anchor had at least done a little bit of research beforehand, or at least was a little bit more unbiased in the tone of her presenting. Rather odd here.

Ah yes, that documentary is great and the book Other Minds is also hugely inspiring.

We need to stop this from happening, no matter what. Soo relieved this document was leaked before it could happen. Now we need to take action.
