We asked that question all the time, yet the fact that we ourselves are living in the UK and how we feel comfortable about living here should be the clear answer to the very question this title poses. Although whether it’s worth risking your life like this to come here when you know that you most likely are welcome is another thing entirely. We want to help these people, but we honestly seriously can’t spare the room anymore. People may say “let’s just build more houses”, but we honestly don’t have any more room. It’s either build more houses and further damage our natural environment when we’ve had enough of that, or build on floodplains which are only going to get worse in the years to come. We don’t just want enough space in this country, we want plenty of space to actually enjoy the quality of our lives. If we want these people to not be coming here in such numbers, then we need to not just give up and actually make their homelands better. I know Afghanistan has fallen again, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep trying.

  2. That’s what I keep thinking. How on earth can it be this hard to track them when although the blowup materials themselves can be easily hidden, there are only so many motors you can move before drawing attention on the French side. So what on earth is going on.
