@marianak369 I disagree with all of that but I must concede that the whole Kill the Bill thing is really ridiculous and unlike in America we actually DON’T need it. The public has gone way out of control here in the UK about it for something that is genuinely needed. The riots have (or as these people like to call it, ‘protests’) only further proved this than anything else. We don’t have the same problems as much in the UK as America does BY A LONG SHOT yet many hyperactive people in their teens and early 20s are acting like it is (and I can say that as I’m a uni student of 25). It’s incredibly pathetic.

@sniper_militia5476 I couldn’t agree more. These people are basically spitting in the face of what a true protest should be about. They wanted to try and do the same thing in Oxford but thankfully they were stopped. These people actually stood back and actually took the time to read up about these people they would see that even if they had done bad things at the time, by the viewpoint of when they were alive they were considered very great people and/or even sometimes liberal by comparison to others of the time. If we continue to judge individuals in this way by our modern standards then as the decades go on absolutely everything from the past will be removed (honestly by these standards we should be destroying the Sphinx in Egypt). What we need to do is add more information to what is already there, so we know both the good and the bad. Not just simply tear stuff down, forcing your viewpoint on others and replacing it with something else. Give more, not takeaway.

@13lochie No of course not, you are completely over exaggerating the whole thing. See, this is what I’m talking about. This is exactly the type of verbal version of what so many people are tired of now. Immediately jumping to ridiculous exaggerations and letting things get out of control. This is exactly what happened with people reacting right after what happened at the vigil a few days ago for that woman who was killed in the first place. People immediately started going after the police again and couldn’t wait to start bashing them online when the police were in fact correct the whole time, when people actually stood back, took a breath and looked at the actual timeline of events at the visual.😔 It was incidences like this and the larger riots against the bill (which were horrific) that it is coming into force in the first place. I’m an Extinction Rebellion supporter, and we should obviously have the right to protest, but events like from last year during the BLM protests (in many cases horrific riots and unwonted vandalism and damage) oh what need to be more cracked down on otherwise things will go completely out of control. This is for everyone’s benefit. Both on the left and the right. We just have to be open to ‘talking’ to each other. That includes the police. Not just bashing down and making each other an enemy. Just TRY.

@seaghan6412 Yeah that is quite interesting. Almost feels like a reverse Judge Dredd in that way. Although it would be certainly interesting if a robot cop and a human cop together could do that!

@13lochie Ok, thank you for explaining that to me. I do fully appreciate it. I think we can indeed both agree on the first point. And yes, it would indeed be better if these protests were, instead of being allowed in a specific timeframe and scale by the police, actually set up better by whatever protest group had them organised in the first place. I.e. specific sort of numbers, times and locations they intend to be in (rather than just blaring it on social media STRAIGHT AWAY where any sort might attend and ruin it for everyone) so they can keep things themselves under control. Proper maturity and ingenuity. Truly show the police and the public that they can control ‘themselves’. Much like what happened with ER in 2019. I know, it’s a huge ask, but I feel like, well, you know, surely in the 21st-century we could actually do more of this!? I wholeheartedly agree with you. This has definitely been a much better discussion than ones I’ve had in the past with other more hardliners on this. I appreciate it. I wish it could be more like this IRL than just the light ones a lot of us have back and forth in our Uni dorms and flats. Lol They somehow in many ways feel like the most productive. If only we actually ever recorded them. 😆 BTW, thumbs up for the paramedics. You guys rock.
