Definitely agree with you there. The only ones left in the world for quite a long time who are doing work on this level where the great animators an artist in Japan. I don’t know whether this is indicating the dawn of the return of to the true 2D animation to the west, but it’s certainly helping to get the ball rolling.

100% agree. The last time we got a great 2G western elevation, more specifically from America, probably have to be treasure Island. For that one they really wanted to go out with a bang and they sure did achieve that. I know The Princess and the Frog was really the last one but in all honesty it’s nowhere near as memorable. If you want to continue watching 2-D films to this day though then you’re deafly better of continuing to check out Japanese anime films. They really are basically bordering on perfection in every sense. It all depends on your favourite genre and style. Highly recommended Weathering With You by Makoto Shinkai.

You see, we do still have what it takes to make high-quality 2-D animation in the west. I knew we could do it, if we were actually willing to invest the time and skill set in traditional capabilities as well as those on the technical side to achieve them. Japan does it in a different way which makes it a slightly more unique style but still essentially the same thing. Only if we keep pushing for development in this area such as with this film can we get back what we lost almost 20 years ago now.
