Woooow. it’s a very big step, and I’m sure plenty of people will hate Sunak for making this decision, but with the constant flow of people coming into the UK now, unfortunately it only makes sense to make this policy clear. Do you want to be able to claim asylum in the UK. You have to do it through legal channels. Not just by crossing the English Channel. We know the speaker desperate, but in the end you don’t know who could be sneaking in with them and with this many people trying to come in it isn’t sustainable no matter how much we wish to help individuals. It can’t be done without limits. Well done Rishi.

  2. That’s something quite different. They are coming into the UK legally and have multiple government-sponsored schemes to help them settle either temporarily or for housing in the UK and they crossing very much into the country legally.

  4. It certainly is though when the number of refugees trying to cross into the UK, is no longer sustainable. The UK massively needs depopulating in many areas, not bringing in more people. Realistically we can only have the same amount of people coming in now as those who are dying of old age.

  5. There is a big difference between immigrants and illegal asylum seekers, thank you. Things have to be done the right way and the way these people are crossing the UK channel is both illegal, dangerous and unsustainable for France and the UK.
