same here. I’m in the UK and we love self check out. Of course there is always staff on hand if you need help with something like age verification or taking the protective talk of an alcoholic drink or fixing something. But apart from that it’s usually smooth sailing and plenty of us are fine with the idea of going full self check out. I wonder if there is a national divide here. It feels like this news report is a bit too brief really relying on just one store groups opinion without really delving more into it.

I wonder if here, there is a clear divide between the UK and the US in terms of self checkout machines. I’m in Britain and here we have fully embraced self checkout and seeing as the tills usually close earlier than the self check out machines, most of us both young and old use them and don’t have a problem with them. Especially as there is always staff on hand to help if there is an issue. I could imagine in the UK. Many of us are in fact okay with the idea of a store going fully self check out. But it looks like in the US there is still a little ways to go, especially with the older generations.

That’s a little bit hard. I wonder if it’s different according to the machines or different for some countries that put them in. I’m in the UK and we don’t have this problem. We can just weigh fruits and vegetables after indicating which fruit or veg it is and either the machine itself will have scales on the scanner to determine the price or have a separate machine for that and put a barcode sticker on it and scan that at the machine. I know it just sounded a little bit complicated to some people The reading this, but it’s honestly very easy and only takes a few seconds. Is it not the same in the US? Many of us here are fine with using self check out and most of us probably would be okay with never going back to using people. Especially as there is always staff on hand to help if there is any problems. It’s much more efficient and is nicer for the consumer as well in many ways.
