  1. Yeah I think it’s because it would just use that more ammunition than would be worth using. Plus, we also have no actual evidence after Ukraine put the flag on it that Russia actually did successfully retaliate against them because of it, let alone actually killing any Ukrainian personnel. Big win for Ukraine here.

  2. Bloody brilliant seeing the Ukrainian flag now flying over the island. It really does feel like one of those Falkland Islands moments that we in Britain know so well. Russia claims to have struck missiles back at Ukraine in response to this, yet there is no evidence of this, let alone any evidence that they actually killed any Ukrainian personnel. Safe to say this pitiful Russian retaliation will do nothing to debate Ukraine’s resolve after this great victory in this long war ahead. We aaaall need to keep shipments of weapons and other highly necessary aid to Ukraine and increase it as much as we can right now. Get more of the advanced long-range weapons along with more medical kits, body armour, helmets and food supplies along with all the ammunition we can manufacture. We can’t just keep digging into our stores otherwise we won’t be able to ‘increase the size’ of the deliveries. We need to actually have our leaders show actual evidence that we are at least increasing the manufacture of bullets and shells along with rockets and drones right now. This needs actual evidence otherwise we aren’t going to believe them. This isn’t giving away where they are being made or where they are being sent. Just simply show us that they are actually being made in the first place on their own.

  4. It’s symbolic which is very powerful indeed considering the strategic importance of the island. It would be unwise to keep troops there, especially straight after planting the flag. Ukrainian troops will probably stay on the edge of the island or have headed right back home afterwards, as it’s not safe currently obviously but either side to be there right now. Not unless Ukraine can guarantee it being held with naval vessels around it as well as surface-to-air missiles in plentiful supply. Just like for the rest of the war, planter the thing and scoot. Always keep moving.
