I couldn’t agree more. It feels incredibly hypocritical for a lot of our nations to say that they can’t handover equipment just because they are too lazy to go through the bureaucracy of doing so, when a lot of the equipment is due for retirement or to be scrapped anyway. The US has huge military graveyards of equipment that was very little work would be considered gems by the Ukrainian forces on the front lines. Plus here in the UK, we are planning on upgrading a lot of our Challenge 2s to Challenge 3s, But we were going to in the process retire 10 or more of them. Of course this is unacceptable now, but it does mean that if we were going to do that then we might as well try and train the Ukrainians to use them, rather than just letting all of that go to waste. We are handing over pre-2000s built/designed armoured personnel and fighting vehicles, let alone the Mastiff vehicles used in Iraq and Afghanistan, so we might as well extend that to tanks.

Better they be put to good use while they still can so they can get their money‘s worth that we the taxpayers, wherever we are in the world, had to fund them, rather than people just complaining that they are running low on stock piles when our nations seem desperate never to actually fight ourselves. If we aren’t going to actually fight, then what is the point in worrying so much about low reserves. No point complaining about hypotheticals now when an actual bloody war is happening right in front of us.

this definitely goes to show the US must be needs to increase its production line rather than them just being made on a case-by-case supply order. However the US also needs to remember the fact that they are not the only country that supplied rocket launches. The UK is also provided thousands of NLAWs to Ukraine that have actually been among the most popular if not in fact the most popular among Ukrainian units. We all know the javelin is a good weapon, but from what we’ve heard from soldiers on the ground, many have actually ‘preferred’ the British made NLAW which has been delivered from the UK and other European partners who also have them. This is mainly due to the fact that, unlike the US ATGM, It is lighter despite its bulky shaped front, much quicker to learn and in a joint partner relationship, if they were ever to simply buy them rather than them being handed over, they are significantly cheaper.We might actually have to look at the US perhaps helping with ‘their manufacture’, rather than the US working on making more Javelins and Stinger missiles. The US is ramping up production to keep up with the demand for the NLAW which is ever increasing on the front lines, but it would be good to get other nations to potentially help with this, even if it does mean giving out sensitive information.

Too right. What a bunch of babies to complain about this low a reserve when they aren’t even wanting to ever use them, whilst an actual war is happening where each one of these could mean the difference between many lives being saved or dying. The UK is increasing its production of NLAWs which are hugely favoured by the Ukrainian soldiers, so the US needs to do the same with its javelins and stingers. Clearly never expected they were going to run out of technical components so soon for their manufacture, but this just means the US needs to get back on the ‘production line’ mandate again rather than on a case-by-case basis for each individual unit like we saw at the factory where Joe Biden visited and considering essentially reinventing the wheel in the design to make up for the fact that they don’t have some of the technical components needed. This is just going to take more time that the Ukrainian forces don’t have. You could see that, from how they were laid out, they certainly aren’t completed very fast. You needed to be done probably by machines and much faster than that.
