@ejmurphy7838 The carpet bombing campaigns killed a lot more Japanese civilians than both atom bombs combined; dropping them was just a show to the Soviet Union; moreover, FDR was warned many weeks in advance of a potential attack on Pearl Harbor, they were scheduled to be re-deployed but FDR delayed it, invited the attack, then sent the whole country into war.
