@puraLusa It's 145 million. thats not a trivial number, and we're not talking about heads per square mile, nobody cares about that. As someone else said, 9th most populous of about 180 nations.

@Rhytmicasd they were strangling Japan's energy imports, despite not being engaged in the war! Moreover, the military post(s) on Pearl Harbour were supposed to be decommissioned months before the attack, but were left there by Roosevelt to invite the attack and spur a VERY non-interventionist public into the war. Vietnam was even worse, since the casus belli never even happened (Gulf of Tonkin incident, declassified in 2005). Fast, and hard.

@richdobbs6595 "It is a measure of production literally," Wrong, it's basically a tally of all commercial transactions (receipts!) throughout a domestic economy. The service sector is the largest sector, and I wouldn't call travel agents and barber shops "production". WE HAVE THE INTERNET
