  4. To be frank, if we can't sort out food supplies, when enjoying 70+ years of peace, we'd be 100% sh1t. The Tories are trying to bring back that ration book feeling though, for nostalgic purposes, nothing to do with criminal incompetence, or anything.

  7. We had salad veg all year round, the Tories took it away, not due to policy changes, but out of abject incompetence. You're essentially saying that the citizenry should be quiet when their material standard of living is deprecated not through real disaster, but by mere Tory incompetence.

  9.  @theram4320  The interest rates are baked into the mortgage liabilities. 1/4 of your salary went on the mortgage in the 30 years post WWII, and now it's nearly 3/4. Everything else is window dressing and obfuscation.

  17.  @zeddeka  The Marshall plan was an effort to prop up the American industrial base, post-war, principally Ford Motor Company, since they were in dire trouble, and the Govt contracts granted to Ford (as part of the Marshall Plan) were an enormous boon to them. It gave America an 'economies of scale' boost whose momentum would run into the 90s. It's a good plan, if you're American
