Ataturk laid out a beautiful constitution; nothing dictator-like about it you moron. If anything Erdogan is the one who's instituted a dictatorship, by abrogating the independence of the central bank, by combining the prime ministerial and presidential offices into one; a position he sits upon with greater power than both former offices. Having said that, he's done a remarkable job economically, but changing the constitution and imprisoning anyone who writes a critique of Erdogan ends up in jail. 16 years is enough

"lower interest rates will encourage investments which in return will increase productivity" - Lower interest rates (i.e lower incentive to lend) will not produce greater investment; ipso facto. Erdogan is actually correct in saying what you thought he didn't say (that lower interest rates correlate very strongly with low price inflation).

He's not trustworthy since he's guilty of nepotism and suppressing any opposition illegally (imprisoning academics, journalists, civil servants, etc). However, he knows damn well how to run an economy and the Turkish people are clearly better off post-Erdogan than pre-Erdogan. The econometric data (GDP per capita doubled, poverty went from 30% to 1.6%, etc) barring the unemployment rate is better. They've also managed to stem the lira's tumble with some quick work preventing shorts. Economically, AKP's tenure is impressive.
