They left it with Descartes' "I think, therefore I am" because it's really not that helpful to spend more time on the origin of consciousness for the purposes of understanding human behaviour. I expect a psychologist to do what Peterson does, to talk about personality archetypes, behavioural traits and psychological differences between the genders, etc. He loves going out of his area, and we've established that's a real chore (and a bore) for people whose expertise it encroaches upon
