  1. Robert Campbell You have never gone without food for 5 days, and do not know the effects of going without food for five days. Your speculation on the effects of starvation on the human body has been dismissed. You also know nothing about life in Africa, so don't bother repeating that. The assumption that a person living in poverty must be an alchoholic who chooses beer over food is the fallacy here, there are many causes of poverty and they are not all related to substance abuse. This is common knowledge for anybody who has not led a sheltered life, so for you to be ignorant implies that you are indeed sheltered, naive and lacking in empathy as a result. And that's why you sound like a Tory.

Robert Campbell Your inability to comprehend basic economics is not an argument against the accuracy of this anecdote.  Just because you don't know where his dole money went (and you didn't stop to consider bills, debts etc) doesn't mean he "blew" it on anything. There are families of employed people who struggle to make ends meet in this country, yet you find the concept of a single unemployed man too far-fetched? Maybe if you went around the world asking questions instead of filling in the gaps in your knowledge with your own delusions, things would make more sense to you.

  5. Robert Campbell I can't make this any more simple for you I'm afraid, I'm trying to explain that heating is a necessity in some parts of the world but you apparently know better. And yes, he did choose not to eat so that he had some money to go into the city for his appointment.  You walk three miles?  How olympian.  But you don't know how many miles he was expected to travel, so your speculation has again been dismissed.  You can assume that he was within walking distance, and that he was in a fit condition to walk that distance, but you would be making that up, since you have no evidence to support that claim. You're going above and beyond here, trying to work out as many ways as possible to make this man the bad guy in this scenario.  Why is that?  Why are you so invested in claiming something you cannot prove?  Is it to fit your preconcieved notions of what other people experience?  Is it because you cannot accept that our current government is purposely pushing citizens into starvation? If you don't believe this story, would you like me to give you some alternatives?  I can prove that the situation is getting worse, would that change your mind?

  6. Robert Campbell The negative effects of welfare cuts are objective, and beyond question.  Not even the Conservaties are going to deny that cutting welfare has consequences. But the truth is, Black could have picked from a dozen stories that were much worse.  Do you really think anybody needs to invent a story to make the Tories look bad?  They're like something out of satire even when using their own words to describe themselves!

  18. Angus MacLellan I don't know why you make this a leftist issue, when the party currently attacking higher education is the Conservatives. One of the first things they did last term was artificially inflate the cost of higher education in England. They wanted to do away with free higher education in Scotland too, the only reason they couldn't was because of the SNP and the Scottish Parliment. Why blame leftists anyway? When was the last time leftists were in charge of UK education? (I'm not sure Labour count as leftist in the 21st century)

Third: This manner of speech is normal for most nations, you have a problem with it because you have a problem with Scottishness as a concept. Ironic, turns out the accusations of being sinister and cynical were projection.

Yoda on DMT Not at all, a nationalist party for Scotland is obviously chiefly concerned with Scottish interests, but since England is our only neighbour it would be irrational to be anti-English.  To put it simply, SNP policy would improve both England and Scotland, to the benefit of both countries.

  26. Yoda on DMT "Relevance" isn't something you should be concerned about, what matters is the wellbeing of the people who live here. A competent government that pooled resources effectively would be an optimal solution, however the current ruling class has shown that is is neither able to create those conditions, nor willing to step aside and let anybody else attempt it.  It's not worth discussing anymore. Ireland was part of the UK once, it didn't go particuarly well for the Irish people and they're still very aware of this. The unwillingness of one country to implement political reform does not obligate any other country to be as equally apathetic, regardless of political union.

Think about it, the name for this country is based on the Latin name for the Gaels.  If we really were Gaels, we'd be using their language.  And we'd be using their culture and faith too. That makes you a descendant of Adam too.   34. ***** Actually, it IS true.  Even way back in the 4th century, Augustine of Hippo wrote about taking parts of the Bible as allegory or metaphor.  The vast majority of Christians agree with this, and always have. There are no scriptures that contradict our African origins, there is no religious reason for you to dispute that.

Refusing an idea just because a Jesuit believed it is spiteful and runs counter to the spirit of Christianity, there are plenty of Protestants who do not argue against historical facts.

Lots of people have made prophecies, but the Bible does not predict the French Revolution.  Haven't you read it?  It's not there. The Roman Empire does not exist, and has not existed for over a thousand years.  I will not be arguing on this. You're doing an incredible job of deviating from the book you claim to follow, I think some time flicking through the pages or going to Sunday school might help you understand what Christianity is.

In regards to "making the majority suffer", are you suggestion that minorities should have to put up with whatever abuse they recieve, just because they are minorities?

  47. newgamer85 The opinion of the SNP is that Scotland has been segregated and made to suffer and pay, so that other people can be rich and maintain their way of living.  The independence movement was to remedy that immoral situation.
