As far rationality, there's nothing irrational about taking a threat of political violence seriously. Sure, people also die crossing the road or die from choking on their food, but does the fate of a nation depend on how many people die in accidents? Fascist movements are increasing in number around the world, and they do not necessarily need to kill huge numbers of people to seize power. In theory, fascists could take over before the body count hits four figures. Of course, the real murder starts after they're in power. Do you want to wait until they are in power before taking action? Do you also wait until you are halfway across the road before looking? The threat exists, the killings and increased violence against an ever-expanding range of targets proves that. No longer up for debate. The actual question is what you plan to do about it. If your answer is "wait until I am personally threatened" then you are the one being irrational, because that answer makes no sense at all. It is the only answer that guarantees your death.

This isn't due to inflation, but a direct result of technological development (as technology develops, skilled workers can be replaced by unskilled workers, who can be replaced by machines). Either a business invests into new technology that eats at profit margins, or it fades into obscurity. This is an inherent contradiction within capitalism.

  28. The reason religion is always at odds with progressivism isn't because religion is inherently conservative, but religious institutions are. So for example, a Christian can be as progressive as they like, but a Christian Church will always seek to maintain its position and influence. Therefore any situation where the Church is not making the rules or telling people what to do is a direct threat to their future. There's also the fact that life is generally pretty good for people who run Churches, they tend to be wealthy and any change is a risk to them. Instinctively the rich resist change. So as long as you feel your faith and politics don't contradict, there isn't a problem.

The population increase is actually very low, and yet housing, public services, infrastructure, education etc are all suffering the same way as they are in the UK. Why? Because immigration is not the silver bullet you want it to be. Reducing the average age and increasing the workforce should make improving these things easier, if anything. There's something else going on - even if immigration was zero we'd be having the same trouble.
