So while it might be true that most minors with GID desist, it's not true in a way that is relevant to those who actually get any kind of treatment. As for what Cass reports, it's true that we need to do better, but her own recommendation was that currently existing services should be rolled out in a better form. Regardless, we know that of those who do transition, very few people detransition and almost all of those that detransition do so because they are bullied into doing it (2015 US transgender survey) With that in mind, it still looks like a blanket pause on all treatment is the riskier option.

According to you, anybody can step in and compete by underselling, right? Except you're wrong, they can't. Established companies with huge profits can afford to make losses for years if they have to, so they can simply undersell in areas where they face competition. One company necessarily runs out of money first, who is it going to be? The smaller company. Want a real world example? Blu-Ray discs. Sony were losing money for years over the expensive development of Blu-Ray. But it became the dominant medium because Sony are a megacorporation that can simply afford to out-subsidise their rivals. Still not convinced? Go on then, make Blu-Ray obsolete. Do it. Compete with Sony. What's the matter? Can't do it? Then I'm right, and you're wrong.

So in Dublin for example, there has been a lot of construction for offices and hotels, since these make far more money than homes. It all comes back to the state controlling supply. The best way forward would be heavy investment in social housing by the government.
