It's not actually a crime to seek asylum

Seeking asylum is not illegal, happy to help

Seeking asylum isn't a crime though

So you agree that the government has the resources to grant homeless people shelter and food, and is intentionally denying them these things? I wonder what kind of conclusions we can draw from this

@ZontarDow "despite the people of Britain consistently voting to end the crisis now because people want decent paying jobs and affordable homes." I think you'll find the "Low wages and unaffordable homes" party has been in charge for quite some time lol
1
@ZontarDow Oh okay, so you were just being wrong on purpose then? Because the electorate have been voting for parties hostile to social housing (which is the only solution to this)
1
@ZontarDow Social housing is the solution to affordable housing. I'm not arguing in bad faith - because there is no argument to be had. This matter was settled decades ago after social housing projects lowered the price of housing. Your uh...speculation? Yeah, that's gonna have to defer to reality this time.
1
@ZontarDow 'actually it's bad faith to disagree with me on anything, even objective fact like the relatively lower cost of rent compared with other European nations that had no social housing stock' It fucking rules that you're so mad about this hahaha So what, supply and demand suddenly don't apply to houses? That's your belief is it? No? Who's arguing in bad faith now lmao
1
@ZontarDow "if you think social housing is somehow adding supply" Before I school you on whatever it is you're rambling about, do you think we can get past this first? You're gonna have to talk me through how "making more thing doesn't increase supply of thing" works. Is your contention that nobody was living in those new houses?
1
@ZontarDow Can we take a moment to appeciate that I simply asked you to explain the words you wrote, and your response was "'THAT'S A CONCESSION I WIN WIN"? Seems like you're totally secure in your beliefs my dude, not remotely rattled haahahhahaaa
1
@ZontarDow 'if you reference something I said it's over I win I win why are you laughing I won waaaaa' "if I pointed out why every attempt by previous governments to expand social housing has failed" We're not arguing about that though, because the government already created social housing decades ago and people lived in the social housing. Therefore, it cannot be considered a failure. You would have to prove that this never happened to maintain your position. Good luck with that ahahahaha
1
@ZontarDow I don't think you know what either of those things actually are, so I don't care. What I find much more interesting is how desperate you are to avoid the topic of social housing, you refuse to say any more on the topic. You can't even explain your own position. And despite repeatedly declaring this to be over because of some breach of etiquette on my part (you poor thing) you can't stop posting? Seems like if you believed this to be over you'd have stopped replying after saying so. But you can't, because you haven't managed to convince me OR yourself. How pathetic is that? You can't even commit to the words coming out of your mouth?
1
@ZontarDow I'm the one who keeps asking you to elaborate, you're the one who keeps declaring it to be over. Amazing how deep I got under your skin just by asking a simple question lmao You're legit stressed over this aren't you? Jesus god man, touch grass hahaha
1
@ZontarDow But as you've already established, you don't know what quotemining is, so this line of argument will be given no further regard. "5 minutes speaking with someone who was unfortunate enough to have lived in it will dispel that notion for good" There are no examples of poor quality social housing you can give that are not eclipsed by the life-threatening conditions imposed by private landlords. The anecdotes you allude to don't exist. " but you really have to learn to phrase things better " Incorrect, learn to read.
1
@ZontarDow It's facinating how you can't ever address what I said, it's like trying to talk to somebody who wants to stay behind you all the time. "you'd get into a physical confrontation with someone raised in one pretty fast if you ever spoke to one about how great you think they are" Actually no, that wouldn't happen. Unlike you, I actually go outside and have seen social housing for myself. Some of it is good, some of it is bad. All of it is better than the worst of the private sector.
1
@ZontarDow Now that we've established you don't know anything about social housing or private rent, can we get back to the topic of how social housing doesn't add to the supply of housing? You seemed keen to avoid elaborating on this point, only after I brought it up did you think to add housing quality to the discussion. But initially, you didn't give quality a second thought. So again I'd like to ask you to explain what your initial complaint was.
1
@ZontarDow Rent in GDR was like, 10% of the working class wage lmao You people have no idea "Pro tip: every socialist movement is seen as inherently racist, sexist and homophobic for a reason" If that was true you'd be a socialist tho Am I wrong
1
@Christopher_Giustolisi Oil workers volunteer for it lol You're basically saying "hurr durr boxers get hit in the face so I'm allowed to punch refugees" Dumb as rocks, honestly
1
"What is your answer to the immigration issues" Build a bunch of social housing and put them in it "weh weh weh what about money" Dry your eyes lad, my solution costs less than what we're currently doing
1
@mpireoutdoors5274 "compassion is mental illness" lmao okay ted bundy
1
@mpireoutdoors5274 I'm middle aged, and the government has spent hundreds of millions of pounds trying to 'deal with' this issue when it would have been far cheaper to simply build good social housing that can be re-used when the asylum backlog is cleared. Not only does my compassion make me a better human being, it also helps me make more efficient decisions. It's an objective fact that caring for these people would have cost less in taxes. Doing things YOUR way is the real waste of money.
1
@mpireoutdoors5274 Ah yes, just go back on the deal that was made with every other nation on the planet. That will definitely put an end to 'future issues'. I can't predict any major repurcussions from this idea that you came up with in five seconds without a second thought. I also can't think of any fundamental changes to society that would necessarily occur due to this 'policy'. Nope, not a one. (Deporting also costs money, by the way. You didn't think of this either)
1
@benowen8321 This means we should be focusing on them, then
