  2. I had an aluminium/carbon bonded bike years ago (big mtb'er), never ever trusted it although it held ok. Then came ten years of carbon bikes where you learned all the ways carbon fiber is very specific. It could be made well using carbon but to do it correctly wouldnt be worth the cost. Youd have to simulate every strand. He was selfish to take people down it it on his own whim that it would be ok.
