the building work over here is not good, cheap cheap cheap. all about efficiency, efficiency doesnt always equal lifespan. concrete cracks and needs complete replacements rather than fixing..nobody wants to pay for that. then theres the wooden houses. standard practice to build a cheap wooden house with a storm bunker. its only going to last until the next big one, and with global warming every one is the next biggest on record. the shopping malls..giant town sized areas they build castles out of gypsum board. its not going to last. all buikt to provide cheap solitions at the time. not built to see them into the future. i see were adooti g the same methods in the uk. my father was a master builder and longtime council recruited builder. he got approached by the masons one night, he came back drunk and told me all about it, he believes in equality and community, he tokd them he wasnt going to roll up his trouser leg and do silly dances😂 next month he ended up cut out of the deals by shoddy corrupts who undercut every estimate given by thousands (leaked info to select builders) ..then they just had to get it built somehow without enough money to do it properly (grenfell etc). you need reliable builders, not corrupts doing it on the cheap.

they adore all that in the usa though, same as us with our old stonework bridges. they wont want to meddle with them its all about preservation. hadnt considered the tugs that should have been attending. more profiteering gone wrong in the worst possible way.

we do fine in the rest of the world 🤷 12miles 😂 no wonder you have ships crashing into things. im going to have to check this (im in puerto rico, huge port here) we get all the container ships docked up and tourist cruise ships. maybe just me but i always assumed they used tugs to park them, given theyre not greatly manouverable sideways on their own. 😂 it would be incredible to see one park itself. bit i dont think thats reality.

theyre going the other way though, more and more and more, cheaper and cheaper and cheaper. broken and broken and more broken.

makes you wonder though, given how they were apparently under attack by chinese hackers at the time (the big story for the day). how up to date are ship navigational computers? guessing not so secure.
