  11. If they invade Belarus, one, it would open them up to counter attack on their northern flank, and two, politically speaking they are worried about russia itself playing that as propaganda. Their strategy is to keep the war contained in Ukraine, period. somebody ELSE has to worry Belarus into concentrating their forces somewhere else and easing that particular threat. I really do not see how this isn't deliberately intended to see just how much resolve the west has in maintaining the status quo. If the west cedes Ukraine to Russia, China WILL take Taiwan, and this will very likely start WWIII. this is why everybody is biting their nails right now.

  13.  @mariacarie5933  this is not over yet. trust me. what NATO needs to do is supply serious long range artillery (more, much more), and somehow take the threat of Belarus interference from Ukraine's northern flank. Ukraine STILL outnumbers Russian assets on the ground.

Hiring itself out as mercenary force to Syrian Dictators also cedes any rights to being a civilized country. Russia is nothing but a giant organized crime syndicate. Has been since even BEFORE WWII.

  28. unfortunately, the one thing Russia has more than the US of is nukes. whether any of them actually still work or not is in question, but the sheer numbers are not. this is exactly why it is so difficult for the West to step in directly. The person running the Russian defense department (which is NOT Putin, btw) is just nuts enough to let all his nukes fly at the slightest provocation.
