  1. No it's because people's whole lives revolve around their kids and when they lose their kids or their ability to unilaterally make decisions for those kids it's tantamount to the Apocalypse. Their whole meaning in their life comes from their kids. Just listen to the victim impact statements in the Nicholas Cruz death penalty case. Most of these parents can barely even wake up in the morning. They all sound violently suicidal. They talk about re-learning how to live life again. I don't know how many murders and or attempted murders were over kids. It's because they don't have God or some transcendental meaning-structure in their lives. Look at the pizza delivery murder case.. I mean the list goes on and on.. It's the one thing that will completely devastate a human being is messing with their kids or their visitation. And I bet you that this Microsoft executive that just died I bet you child custody was involved as well. So it's not that these people are like wanton serial killers. It's that they have an unhealthy relationship to the world that is shrouded by the statistical improbability of losing their kid either through the court system or some tragedy. Obviously, losing a child is heartbreaking but for some people they lose themselves in that process and that's when it becomes pathological and even criminal--it leads the criminal activity.
