I personally don't think there's anything odd with using that symbol. Using the Nazi flag is different though. It's just inappropriate. I don't think using the manji symbol is offensive or anything like that. Others where I live (Sweden) might look at it differently and even be offended, but at the same time, the symbols are different. It's kind of like how there are various types of crosses that are symbols for various religions. Just because two symbols have a cross shape doesn't mean they are related to each other. Therefore, just as Japanese people should learn more about the Nazi flag, others who see the manji symbol should also learn more about that instead of being offended.
