@eledgy Yeah, and that's part of why I'm pro-gun control. It's not so much limiting the usage of guns for me, it's about making sure people know how to use them and when to use them. If freedom is supposed to exist, there also needs to be enough systems in place to ensure we're responsible enough for it, much like what you're saying. Basically the same reason why we have driving tests before you get a license; we don't want people who are awful drivers on the streets.

I'm all for quite strict gun control. I agree with this. I believe this is one of the valid reasons to use the guns, another being at a shooting range on targets. The last being hunting. So basically everything gun nuts want to use their guns for, really.

@TheOneTrueFett Elaborate.

@A S Yeah, it's considered illegal in most places. Not sure about what the state laws in the US say about this specific case, but it likely goes to a trial no matter what the law says. Needs to be proven that it's self-defense regardless of the legality.

@spacequack5470 I agree about defending, but unless their lives are endangered, intentionally killing a trespasser is still excessive.

@midnattsol6207 A person who breaks into your home is a sufficient threat to your life. That's the way I look at it.

@andrewmeyer3599 Yeah, I think the difference should be in how the person acted before the intruder was shot. If you're actively looking for the intruder while armed, that's quite aggressive and is basically looking for trouble, while if you go to a room with only one entrance, call the police and wait while being armed in case the intruder enters is defensive; those are two entirely different scenarios and I'd be far more willing to defend the latter. I can think of many valid scenarios where the intruder is shot and I would consider it valid self-defense even in the case of fatality. To protect the intruder is crazy, but basically giving the home owner a free ticket to shoot anyone who intrudes is also insane.
