  2.  @ItsBanesa  l agree with you, but not about the using of the “celebrity” word. This is a very modern new definition for all types of people, who become famous. Actors and actresses, singers, and other entertainers are giving their best to entertain audiences, and movie stars, and singers are the most sensible, vulnerable people, once they become famous for an character they portrayed to perfection, there is a roller coaster of admiration, but also of jealousy of other artists, Agencies, who promote other actors (their protégées) as their favourites. Mostly rivalries are behind these rape, drug, inappropriate behaviour cases. Often rape accusations are from 10-20 years ago, famous actors suddenly get accused of being a horrible persons, as they bullied someone at primary or high school. Ridiculous. But in the Media these accusations often un-evidenced can destroy an artists career, or even worse drive him/her to suicide, as they are powerless against media defamation, and evil netizen. I am saying evil netizens, because there are groups, who get paid for their insults. When artists want to sue them, their accounts are faked, or they apologise, but the damage is done. These accusations only happened, when artists are rich, famous, and admired/loved by mass audiences, not when they are a nobody, and struggling to survive in the Entertainment Industry. Coincidence ❓How many South Korean artists have killed themselves out of depression, financial difficulties, loneliness, being isolated. Media, Internet moguls, netizens are working hand in hand, as controversies, and stirring up fan clubs, followers from artists to hate each other, play off against each other, makes money for them. I feel very sorry for this excellent actor, another unnecessary death, but l guess, he might wanted to protect his actress wife, and his two boys from more scrutiny, more negative public attention. I will remember Lee Sun-kyun as an excellent actor, and his tormented soul will be at peace now. Thank you.

  6. Megan, l really thank you for bringing up in South Korea the difference of being rich, and famous as an entertainer but without POWER, and “doing illegal” things as rich and powerful. Yes, l saw this countless times in my ten years visiting South Korea being there for months, from the corrupted politicians, the SEWOL “tragedy”, to death of artists every year during my visits - l am just glad, that some survive the Internet, media, powerful entertainment moguls carnage like Kim Hyun Joong for example, and some musicians. The Chinese actor Xiao Zhan survived the most shocking defamation case of all times to me. The victim was made the culprit. I experienced in many conversations with South Koreans from students to parents, that the pressure of expectations from parents to their children is enormous. And the whole society is double standard, hypocrisy is normal, but this is the case in all Westerner societies too, only the pressure is not this much arguably, but we have to cope with the burden as normal people that we are colonisers, and have never stopped taking resources from countries we colonised, lecturing them, and forcing our questionable values, morals, propaganda on these countries. We are no better. As an outsider l am not really entitled to have a negative opinion about South Korea, as l love Hangul language, the culture, was in awe about actors, actresses of the generation Bae Yong-joon from Winter Sonata, Choi Ji -woo, Park Yong-Ha. It was also shocking, when Park Yong-ha died in 2010, my first famous SKorean actor, singer who died, why l was there. From then on every year l witnessed unnatural deaths of entertainers, and shallow explanations. Anyway, unless society does not change their norms, their views about what is acceptable, the attitude of the Internet users to more scrutiny of the information they get feed does not change, the persons, who have no power, but got wealthy through excellent work need to be well aware about their obligation to present at all times a pristine image, otherwise they will be torn apart by the wolves. I will remember Lee Sun-kyun as an excellent actor and a good human being. I am sure he is at peace now. But his family has to live in agony. I hope, the ones involved in his death will find no rest, karma should catch up with them. Thank you for this kind report, and the questions raised. Sad greetings from Australia
