  1. Rommel thought Germany should sue for peace after Stalingrad (early 1943). His troops loved him and the British respected him. If I end up in Valhalla, Rommel will be at the top table and I shall get him a large Schnapps!

  2. The Allies would have welcomed Rommel as Head of State as they thought he was sensible and could do business with him. Also, the German people were told he had succumbed to wounds inflicted by a Spitfire that strafed his car.
