  2. My heart goes out to the children. How sad that this son was indoctrinated so deeply that he still loves and prays for his sick parents. Religion is a man made, antiquated idea of how the world works. Hopefully society will one day leave it all behind. We would all be better off.

  8. God is love? Hhhmmmm. I used to think so until I realized it isn't true. Every single day these children were being abused, neglected, starved, and tortured, "God" turned a blind eye. Was he offering help? Did he make sure these innocent children were safe? Did he take care of them? Nope. He was MIA because he doesn't exist. There isn't a sane human being who could stand by and watch children being abused, but "God" does it every minute of every day. I cannot morally support such a being.

  9. That's extremely cruel to say. How is "God" good by allowing a fire to happen and the children to be left without a mother?! That's the harsh reality. It's a tragedy.

  13. I was married to a firefighter for 20 years and both of my sons are firefighters. There are all kinds of people in all kinds of jobs. Generally, there is a positive comradery among firefighters, but anyone can have a mental illness. I don't want to make assumptions, but that may have been the case here.

  14. Believe it or not, this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. It's just that news travels much faster and broader than in times past. We live in the safest time in history in all areas.

  16.  @sapphireluna4818  I live in Grover and was aware of the warnings, as I regularly check the weather, so we stayed home. Everyone was talking about it, but evidently she didn't realize how bad it would be. One thing I haven't heard, even from locals, is if the waters were just rising or if something else happened in the area where she was driving (like a levee broke or something of the sort). I'm appalled and disturbed by the comments about this mother who lost her baby. I can't even imagine and and haunted by the thought of what happened. That's a parent's worst nightmare. 💔

  17.  @sfeele1  Yes I sure can. There are tons of YouTube videos that explain evolution in simple ways. I didn't understand it myself at first and used to think it was a ridiculous idea. Boy, was I ignorant! Once I started learning, everything made much more sense. I'll find a couple of good videos to link.

  19.  @nmnmnm35  That's simply not true. I was married to a firefighter for over 20 years and both of my sons are firefighters. They don't make nearly that much. LA might pay better, but they probably deserve it. Do you want to work 48 hour shifts where you're up all night not knowing what you might face next? How about being gone for a week on a big fire out of county where you sleep on the ground and don't get a shower? Firefighters are generally underpaid for what they do.

  22. This comment shows a massive lack of empathy. She just lost her child, who was literally pulled from her arms. It sounds like she probably shouldn't have been out on the road, but I don't know if she realized the dangers. Maybe talking about it is her way of dealing with the devastating loss.

  23. We have no idea if the other drivers were calling 911, were afraid, or were not able to stop for some other reason. The criminals were not attacking a person, they were attacking a car. They might have thought that staying inside the car was the safest decision.

  27.  @Braveheart.22  You are speaking from a point of presupposition. Considering the supernatural has never been proven, how about we deal with what we do know - the natural life. What possible purpose could there be to allow a child to get caught in a fire and be thrown out the window, only to have the mother end up being consumed by the fire, leaving the children motherless? Can you think of a good reason for that?

  28. I appreciate the reply and am very familiar with stories in the bible. I am asking you to think through things rather than blindly "trust God". Surely God is okay with thinking, otherwise, why create the brain? You said sin entered the world at one point. Does that mean that it was once perfect? If so, then how did it change to tainted? Furthermore, why would God create a thing known as "sin" and allow it to enter that perfect world? Clearly he knew exactly what the ramifications of sin would be, so why allow such a thing, knowing how much damage, pain and destruction it would cause? Does that sound loving to you?
