I wonder if everyone is thinking the same thing - what was happening in Sharday's home life? 😳

I'm in awe of her giving nature. This world could use more like her. She's giving those children a life they would not otherwise have. ❤

I find it so interesting how some cling to the idea of the god who was absent in the first place. If there was a god, he/she/it doesn't protect children. I could never worship or follow a being like that.

He is a product of his upbringing. They aren't doing him any favors by allowing him to act like that. It's very unfortunate. Who knows what his future will be like. He didn't ask to be brought up without rules.

@Linda-mo5sl Just to be clear, I don't blame God for anything because I'm not convinced that gods of any type exist. If you had the power to do whatever you wanted, would you choose to help all children from abuse or just a select few? I have a hard time understanding the idea of worshipping a being who allows such horrors in the first place.

At 25:00 when the mom says she will love her daughter no matter what and the daughter takes it offensively. 🙄

Except she wasn't bossy; she was a bully.

I really enjoyed this documentary, but there are so many unanswered questions. I was left wanting to know more. 1. What was Jim like as a child? 2. Did he display any signs of mental instability or dishonesty? 3. Did they ever suspect he was interested in a scheme like that? Was this the first time anything like that had happened? 4. Were they surprised he pulled off a scheme like that? 5. Was he a spender? Did he hoard the money? Was he generous? 6. How did he assume Michael's identity? How would he get a birth certificate and driver license? 7. What did Mike tell Dylan about his family? His backstory? Dylan is such a sincere, likeable guy who was able to gift Jim's family with closure. No doubt that meant the world to them. P.S. Dylan is such a nice looking man. My gosh! His skin is goals.

I wonder about her back story, especially considering she and her brother are both in prison and her ex just got out. She clearly has a heart and a conscience. It's easy for us to point fingers, but we don't know what she experienced.

@timothywait9457 I saw what appears to be her mother and baby sister, but I didn't hear about foster parents.
4
@cottoncandyfriends8933 I wonder why he would choose to protect you from whatever it is you experienced, but not a baby that is repeatedly raped or a child who has been locked in a room for 10 years while nearly starving to death? If God sees everything, he watches that baby being raped, but doesn't step in. Are you bothered by that?

I wish more animals were used in prisons. I watched a documentary about dogs being used in rehabilitation for non violent convicts. It was amazing. It's definitely a win-win.

I'm genuinely curious if you'd think the same if one of the 2 women he killed was your mom or grandma.

@nativeamericanfeather9948 You don't think there are healthy and unhealthy home environments? Upbringing greatly impacts children. It's not an excuse, but a possible explanation of some of her bully type behavior.
2
@nativeamericanfeather9948 I see what you're saying, but I would change that to say that a "perfect environment" doesn't exist, but an overall healthy environment can. By "healthy", I mean a child growing up with unconditional love in a home where basic respect exists. Children are generally very quick to dismiss "imperfect" behavior from parents - losing their temper once in a while, not being present 100% of the time, etc. I'm not referring to abusive, neglectful or conditional love parenting. There is a huge difference between those ways of upbringing.

@melissasw64 I can't help but notice how few TV personalities have communication skills. I'm not a fan of Oprah, Ellen, Dr. Phil, etc. because they seem more interested in judging their guests and hearing themselves talk than actively listening. I want to be clear that it has nothing to do with the inmates choices in life. He was simply there to get their perspective and he did just that. He didn't make accusations or coddle them either. He did what he went in to do, which gives us information to digest. What did you think?

I can be gullible, but when Sarah said, "I was naive...I think about the victims and their families all the time" while trying to conjure up some tears, even I saw straight through that. That whole story was BS and even this gentleman saw through that.

Individuals are corrupt on their own, no matter their gender.

@kensley94 why lol?

@Linda-mo5sl I appreciate your sincere reply. I'm honestly curious to know if you had the power, would you prevent children from being abused or at least help them escape? You mentioned free will. Where is the abused child's free will? We all make choices, but sometimes things just happen. I could be living a very honest life as a Christian and die in a car accident. I could be an innocent child who starves to death. I could be a murderer who never gets caught. How do you make sense of that?

@mgd6087 Our minds are complex and stranger things have happened. I haven't heard anyone say they get their questions answered after they died and came back. We now know truth science the reasoning behind the "white light" that many claim to see upon death.

He is my absolute favorite journalist/interviewer of all time. There is no one else like him. I watched this years ago, and am watching it again. I just love his style of communication. He remains neutral and is always so polite and respectful.

While I appreciate the attempt at helping, I can't help but cringe at some of the tactics used. I have no training, but can see the problem with some of the way the situations are handled. Training isn't everything.

I don't understand the "dislikes" for this video. This video is a benefit to society. It shows the incredible journey of a very driven man whose story is filled with unconditional love, perseverance, and gratitude. Watching this, no doubt we will all be a little more grateful for the health we have that many of us take for granted. This is a good lesson in empathy for humanity. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤

Was anyone else as surprised as I was to see so much stuff in the cells? TVs, cups, cables, paperwork... basically what some homes look like. I had no idea so much was allowed inside the cells, not to mention 2 hours of free outside time per day. Wow!

I came to the comments section to say just that. I appreciate his personality and interview style. Many could learn a thing or two from him. He is rare. 🙌
