Conclusive proof that Farage appeals to idiots. Firstly, he explains the increase in UK population over a 25 year period, and links it to immigration. Life expectancy has also increased and we've had more births than deaths. As our population ages, we need more workers to contribute to the economy. Immigration then becomes useful. We also need more hospitals and schools. Government has failed to invest. Farage uses his vacuous rhetoric to promote his racist agenda. Perhaps the Foghorn should be made to face fishermen and farmers, after they were sold down the river from Brexit.

@billgreen8966 How exactly have we suffered "illegal" immigration? To what extent? And what difference has it made to the size of our population? Of course we must control immigration with a sensible and humane process. We also benefited from freedom of movement in the EU - both ways. As well as educational exchange and sharing scientific research. Foghorn Farage blamed everything on immigration and his vacuous rhetoric worked. Interestingly, he was out-debated and made to look stupid by so many people, but still he kept getting the gigs.

@elrjames7799 "Glib" is the right word. Brand makes no pretence of sharing such conditions. He may understand it from past experience. Thus no hypocrisy. Lazy language; an attempt to exclude valid opinion.

@billgreen8966 it's a question of scale: "a few people paying taxes" and "hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants" No mention of refugees of course and no numeric evidence of the two above statements. "Don't bother commenting." Obviously you are against free speech and cogent argument that does not match your preconceptions. Time for evidence!

@billgreen8966 so I'm an insult to myself as a taxpayer? The 21000 you mention in 2021 is interesting. Most came by boat and the number increased dramatically after Brexit because we abandoned the Dublin Regulation, also known as the Dublin Accord. The fact that you can't find official figures may well mean that our systems are not fit for purpose. Many estimates are tenuous and sources questionable. Equally you can't assume that so many are not working and are scrounging. The Daily Fail may love this rhetoric but it is devoid of fact. In his classic misdirection, Farage used the EU as an excuse, by denying freedom of movement (what you call legal immigration) as the excuse to remedy our inability to manage what you call illegal immigration. As a UK taxpayer, I'm more incensed about dark money and billionaire oligarchs taking the rip. The classic misdirection, of course, is to blame the "foreigners" - coincidentally labelled as scroungers. I'm all for managing immigration and managing the economy. We have not only demonstrated an inability to do both, we have got worse while people like Foghorn use classic misdirection to increase the wealth of disaster capitalists.

@elrjames7799 if you read his book Revolution you may well think otherwise. Btw you have just proved his point by labelling him a hypocrite.
1
@NoNoNoNopeNopeNopeNo you have fallen for deflection and proved his point by labelling him a hypocrite.
1
@elrjames7799 "Reality" is that he is proved correct by every accusation of hypocrisy. His personal position is clearly stated in the book. The same lazy logic as in the term Champagne Socialist, as though socialism is not capable of producing wealth. A total disconnect of fact for the purpose of deflection.
1
@elrjames7799 Did I say that? An accusation needs substantiation. There you go again: living right and talking left. Does that mean anyone with what you term left beliefs is excluded from wealth? Wealth is not the preserve of the Right. That's the false indoctrination of neoliberalism. Left is about the distribution of wealth and creating a meritocracy to achieve it.
1
@elrjames7799 I disputed your fundamental statement about "talks left and lives right" as being a total fallacy and lacking in logic. It may shock you to know that wealth is not the preserve of the Right. If you believe that, inequality can't be challenged nor reversed. That's why it's not hypocrisy.
1
@elrjames7799 then it's meaningless false labelling and no proof of hypocrisy. WTF does "live right" mean?
1
@elrjames7799 total blx. Apparently 773 people above don't agree with you so this discussion is utterly pointless, as is your attempt at defining two words used loosely as pure rhetoric.
1
@elrjames7799 is that the best pseudo scientific bs you can come up with? You either value his opinion and agree with his argument or you don't. Your choice. THE END
1
@elrjames7799 stop wasting your time and mine. You have proved Brand right on two points. You either agree with him or you don't. You are now going beyond harassment.
1
@elrjames7799 are you on illegal substances are simply suffering rejection? You have fallen into both traps he set. Work it out for yourself without further comment from me. Good night.
