Wise words, professor. Hopefully this level of enlightenment will reach the right ears. Thanks for what you do. Always good to think of others.

Don't think I'll take lessons from a remnant of scum journalism after these dedicated and undervalued people have helped save my life.

Rees Mogg has developed the art of speaking through the wrong orifice, with a posh accent that persuades some to doff their cap and deem him credible. He exudes that Eton blend of self importance and vacuous inanity.

The bigots in the DUP don't understand the concept of power sharing. It requires them to get off their arses and do some work. It requires cooperation. Their politicians shouldn't be paid while effectively taking industrial action. As for media pandering, well said professor Tim.
18
Footballers and ex-footballers hold this government to account. Doing the job of the mainstream media, whose silence is complicit.
16
Braverman was too cowardly to answer a question from the SNP leader as to whether she would declare the survivors illegal.
16
Noone does fantasy like President Moron. Backed by two performing seals, making America the greatest...laughing stock in the world.
15
Sunak promised integrity, professionalism and accountability. Yet he exudes corruption, incompetence and opacity.
10
I share your surprise at Angela Rippon being on this comedy channel, professor. At last the silence is broken on the disaster that is brexit. The mainstream media are no longer silent. Still a lack of scrutiny and a government in denial, but reality is biting.

Of course, we all hop on a private jet to go on holiday and why should that right be taken away from us? We have applied to borrow his jet for a family trip to Australia next year and guess what Little Spiv has said...

The very people Musk rants about. Emperor Elon is a prize wazzock
7
He's a sociopath.
7
Then you didn't think very hard and for very long. Happy Christmas
6
True. I would add: to fix the system to make them billionaires.
6
Nigel is such a man of the people - only when it helps his bank balance and keeps him current. A true con merchant. ❤
5
Absolutely true. An inability to hold these charlatans to account. They will only accept a friendly forum
5
Tory cabinet members must live in an alternate universe. After leaving the EU, Britain became the desparate party in trade negotiations. A fact of life; the natural course of events to anyone capable of critical thinking.
5
Or any competent journalist holding him to account.
5
@seang2700 gotta laugh at whataboutery.
5
If a revolving door to the tower of London for anyone found lying, I might see some value in their judgement.

Starmer was, at least, tactically naive (imo). Thatcher is like marmite and people react emotionally to her name. For every vote gained, two or three may be lost. The price of Thatcher's entrepreneurship was neoliberalism and the dismantling of society for greed. Did the end justify the means? Also on Wilson, I agree with you, prof. The 60's became a time for hope and optimism and the quality of life improved for many. We also had a close sense of community. Did Starmer expect many to read beyond the headlines? And did he trust the Torygraph to deliver accurate and impartial journalism? The Tories are doing enough to campaign for votes against them. Why fan the flames of tribalism?

Could it be a subsidiary of Carrefour? Holidays have always Johnson's second priority, with photo ops his first.
4
The John Barnes interview was poignant and revealing. It seems that ex-footballers hold this government to account...doing the job of the MSM?
4
Sunak really has lost his marbles. His credibility now has a minus rating.
4
If, as Martin Lewis correctly said: "the market is broken," we need a radical solution. Yet here we are with a government afraid of upsetting powerful business; an opposition leader who is ready to offer a temporary solution for fear of upsetting Murdoch; and only a former prime minister and chancellor able to speak out with a sensible plan. Unlike New York, parliament does sleep, and for long periods. We have a demob-happy leader and two rats in a sack fighting to take over with no plan to fix the crisis. Of course Jeremy Corbyn is right. He understands the word conscientious.
4
Of course Dories disrespects the truth: she's a Tory in Johnson's cabinet. Part of the job description. Lol.
4
Even more vacuous and operationally incompetent than Johnson.
4
The Tories consistently are seen to be doing something, rarely the right thing, never enough.
4
I agree about imminent turmoil. The Russia Report gave all the clues we needed, yet, somehow, the Tories kept the lid on it; inevitably aided by the oligarch media.
3
This incident is great deflection for the government. Fetch me the sick bucket indeed.
3
I always attempt to apply critical thinking to our media reports, after reading Chomsky on manufacturing consent. There is also the question of deflection: keep the royal headlines running to distract from the government dismantling the NHS.
3
Since it's an exchange policy, perhaps we will get someone else on the return flight. Could make the cabinet meeting more interesting.
3
@rodneycooperLMSCoach thanks for sharing. Experience may have made us equally cynical about the standards of British management, or leadership.
3
Putin made a gross miscalculation. If he had a fair point about the expansion of NATO on his borders, he has effectively driven more countries to join.
3
Farage is a serial whinger, continually stirring dissent. His ego can't stand the pushback of forensic questioning or serious journalism.
3
And next: a recycled Shapps. At least he could have reappeared under a different name.
3
Never has an act been so ironically named: the illegal immigration act. It's the act that is likely to be deemed illegal in the context if international law.
3
Don't be an observer. Write to complain to the BBC. Overwhelm them. When logging a complaint or observation, you must now wait for an email then verify it, or your post will be discounted. We pay for this service and deserve better.
3
@DropdudeJohn Your last statement is a vacuous generalisation from your pseudonym account. In language you may understand: tarring everyone with the same brush.
3
Mandelson also mentioned in the Post Office scandal this morning. Making a name for himself yet again.
3
When will we demand operational competence over empty rhetoric and populism from our politicians? As soon as a politician declares that we have had enough of experts, we are a step closer to fascism. We need experts to judge the politicians' effectiveness. We need politicians to listen to experts to deliver the best for society. Braverman and this abject government were warned about the inadequacy of this centre and were more concerned with outsourcing their sociopathy to Rwanda.
3
So true. Britain is hardly an example for good. We operate an elective dictatorship, where many votes are wasted; are lacking in parliamentary standards with minimal scrutiny; operate an adversarial system of governance at times when cooperation is needed (even overdue) and appear to reward lying and cheating along with the breach of international law.
3
It seems that Starmer is afraid of his own shadow, or is it fear of Murdoch?
3
A copy of the prime minister. Refuse to go and blame others. A cabinet of incompetent charlatans.
3
Personally I don't blame the Qataris. The corruption starts with FIFA. Surely climate and the freedom of both players and fans (without the curtailment of liberty) are key factors in the hosting decision.
3
Braverman: a raving lunatic in a cabinet of sociopaths.
3
If Johnson is judged on fantaay and entertainment, his writing may be applauded by some. If judged on fact, read Peter Oborne's Assault on Truth before judging.
3
Her excuse to the committee chair was, you keep asking me the same questions. Not bright enough to realise, that's because she can't answer a single one. The Tories set a low bar on operational competence, yet Braverman is below the level of abysmal.
3
HS2 was always a vanity project and the financial case did not stack up. We need better cross country links, instead of transport being London centric.
3
I agree with your take on history, prof. The greatest act of self-harm in my lifetime.
