Carbon emissions reduction is currently implemented with taxes on fuel, which has been met with protests by the Yellow Vests in France. Short-term thinking best. Tackling climate change cannot be achieved by taxes here and there (taxes which get forwarded disproportionately to the middle and working class), but by global commitment and action. Trump pulled out of the Paris Ageement, and the world's fastest growing economies, like China and India, don't look like they'll uphold it anytime sooner.
