I think Erdogan is genuinely stupid, he has no real vision for his country's place in the world. He is a copycat of Putin's ways, with stoking the same nostalgia for his country's imperial past, but nothing much beyond, maybe only Duterte and Trump being even bigger idiots out of all this new crop of autocrats and right wing leaders around the world. The Turkish people will be worse off if he wins, as dictatorships are crisis factories.
