So yes basically can happen (those things you didn't think could happen to a person), our cells comprise really of mostly H20 as its basis, can even cause (depending on various factors) the H20 to change to H2O2 meaning a bleaching agent called Hydrogen Peroxide, its its chemical equivalence, not sure though if there's any cases where thats happened as a result of getting radiation sickness.
