The reality (and without wanting to cause any offence here in anyway) it's all designed so that you'll see as many videos as possible, so you'll hopefully (unless you're using an ad blocker then that obviously defeats the point lol) click on the ads so the youtuber gets money and youtube/google get a percentage, obviously being a private firm they'll make money off of that (both parties will) now it's largely disputed if youtube are actually making anything out of the business that is this platform (they aren't actually lol).
It could be seen as biased but that's the whole point of it, you're not going to watch a video on something that's of no interest to you is it? If you want to see something outside of your normal watching patterns then search for it, I find multiple times that if I watch a certain video a lot, a load more of them will show up in my recommendations lol.
After all that it makes perfect business logic really, I don't get why they'd be doing as this uploader says though that's a bit off putting to say the very least, though it's not (if I was a US citizen) as what I'd deem a breach of the 2nd amendment though, that's only for the government to not be able to restrict your freedom of speech, has literally fuck all to do with private firms, you like say get banned off here then you've obviously breached one of their guidelines for youtube usage, they have no need to implement freedom of speech as they are a private profit making company.
