You could be downloading anything thinking it's a normal software when it fact you've just create a backdoor to all the data on your computer. Second, it doesn't need to run for hours. This one example. It could be just a few minutes. They could get everything from your Apple ID to your credit card informations if you have them saved locally. This is a dangerous exploit and those who don't understand this cannot pretend like they do. It's so dumb...
