Pre-antibiotic age syphilis was passed to the next generation in horrible ways, too ...there is a syphilis pattern clear to genealogists that involves long periods of miscarriage of children, then weakened and blind children are born and eventually, healthy children. When you spot that pattern over a fifteen or twenty year marriage, it's almost always syphilis in the parents. There were 'Blind Schools' on every corner in London before the 20th century ... the need for them disappeared immediately with the arrival of antibiotics.

@Stevie are you an imbecile, or merely a moron? try not to take everything literally ... my point is there were many many more blind schools in the 19th century in London and in England in general because of the prevalence of blindness caused by syphilis. It's a sad fact. There is no need for them today. Was there one on EVERY CORNER? of course not, only a dullard would see that as anything but a figure of speech. Again, guessing you are not from the 19th century, so your first hand London experience is irrelevant, isn't it, dearie? so imbecile or moron? which are you? p.s. you have no idea which generation I'm from ... or do you believe people's avatars are what they actually look like??? in which case, you've already answered the question: imbecile it is!
